Since I was six years old family members have always said I would be great at basketball one day. I never really took it seriously until I hit age 11. I started playing for state ranked AAU teams and working on my game everyday. My mom always told me “Camron you’re going to be short but don’t let height bring you down. Most coaches want the taller and stronger guy that’s why you have to work ten times harder than them on the court and in school”. It took me till the age of 13 to final realize what she was saying. The way my parents raise is school is always first, if i’m not doing what i’m supposed to be doing in school then there is no basketball for me. That’s why I try my best everyday to pay attention and class and get my education because I really want to play basketball.
Basketball nowadays is all about the person who can score the most or who has the best shot in the gym. That’s where I tell people you’re wrong. It all starts from the leader of the team which is the Point Guard. The shooter can only shoot if the Point Guard gets him open and swings him the ball. The Point Guard has to lead the team and get them prepared for each and every game. Most importantly the Point Guard has to be able to see plays develop and call the play and that’s what I bring to any team I play for,I bring that leadership presence that every team needs. I also can score when the team needs me too either by getting to the basket and finishing or by creating separation and getting a high quality shot off. With my skills I know I have what it takes to play at any college level.
