I first started actually falling in love with basketball my freshman year, I was not raised in the sport like most people who play the sport are. Going into my freshman year I would play every day and do conditioning. It was not soon after that I experienced injuries. Even though I still played I never felt like I could not play at the varsity level and never tried out. My junior year I decided to not only tryout for the team but to get myself academically focused to be able to play sports. grades have become more important to me as I have moved up from grade to grade. I made the team and we were very good, loosing only 2 games out of 22. We had no chemistry though so when it came to our one huge tournament of the year we lost and ended up getting third place. I learned that chemistry was everything in the game of basketball or any other sport to be honest because thats all it took to stop my team from winning. As a unit you win and loose together and moving forward to my senior year and even to the college level that is what I want to implement, A brother hood with my teammates.
When it comes to basketball, I leave everything on the court. When on the court I am not your friend, I am your opponent. I like to be competitive and I like the pressure of having to knock down that shot or get that game winning layup. Off the court we can always be friends though and I know for a fact thats what separates the players that love the sport from the players that just play to play and don't take it serious. I have come from really low places with basketball, having almost quit the sport twice due to injuries but I am glad I pushed through it and never did quit. My teammates pushed me through those hard times and that why I love to bring my teammates together, wether having a normal conversation or just encouragement after a discouraging game or practice. I love to see a smile on everyones face, everybody deserves to be happy and I try to implement that on any team I am on. I want to bring all these things from high school to college to the college level. from concentration on my grades to full concentration on the court.
