Personal Statement

Hi, My name is Darius Ajakaiye. 5'11 - Sophomore (Age 15) who has been a PG leading teams to wins across the City of Providence (MVP) championship, clinching a State Championship and School Championship.  Now, as a sophomore, I've earned All Division and All League 1st team as voted by the Rhode Island Coaches Assocation.

Previously, I made Varsity as Freshman averaging 10.3 pts on less than 13 minutes a game.   I’ve loved the game of basketball ever since I could remember. It’s something I truly love and enjoy doing including the hard work that goes with being next level.  Beyond basketball, I also play the Saxophone.

Off the court, I have a very hard work ethic.  I wake up almost every day at 6am to work on different parts of my game.   My discipline and dedication sets me apart from many of my peers. My hardwork extends to the classroom of Moses Brown - a premier private school with a rigorous academic approach - where I attend.   At school, I've and consistently received awards over the last two years for performing in school and the court with excellence.  One such award is the Ddell Award.

On the court, I’ve worked hard over the years to become a better leader on and off the court.  My belief is that good leadership is a must especially for point guards. I take great pride in my leadership and have the ability and enjoy getting my teammates involved but also can create opportunities for myself and score.  I believe I am a threat on the attack, pass and from outside with shooting.  Overall my goals with basketball are to get a scholarship at the highest level and quality program.  I work out in DC, MD, NJ and my homestate of Rhode Island continuously.

I reside in Providence, Rhode Island where I've played in some of the toughest inner city leagues as well as played and tested myself all over the United States in CA, MA, NYC, PA, MD, CT, FL and many other states.  In some invite only camps, I have come out ranked top 13 and winning a sportsmanship award.  With my combined ball-handling and deep range, shooting ability, I can provide great playmaking, a floor general who can also play the 2 scoring for your team.

I look forward to getting to know you, leading your team under your system and love to answer any questions,

Thank you for your time,

Darius Ajakaiye.
