Personal Statement
I started playing basketball in third grade, but I didn't start taking it seriously until seventh grade. During the beginning of my basketball career, I mostly played at the center position. During my sixth grade year, I played the small forward position. Now, at my high school, I play point guard and I feel like my game has developed into something special that not a lot of basketball players have. After learning all the different positions around the court, I have a better understanding of the game.
I want to attend a college or university that will allow me to achieve the highest level possible that my talent will take me, both academically and on the court. I am a versatile player and leader, on and off the court, who can adapt to any situation. I learned at a young age that I am a natural born storyteller, so I want to major in Photography or Film. Also, I would love to make my family proud by getting a four year degree and show the kids in my city that you can make it out of Flint without having to leave during your high school years.
My main goal in life is to come back to my city to show younger kids that if they have faith that they can turn a bad situation into a good one.
