Personal Statement

I have been playing basketball literally my whole life.  I don’t remember a time when I didn’t have a basketball in my hand. I was shooting at mini-rims even before I could walk. My brother and sister are much older than me and both played basketball growing up so I was always at a game or practice.  My family is very competitive and I worked hard to excel in basketball because I always wanted to get to a point where I could beat my siblings.  I finally met my goal of beating my brother, who is 7 years older than me, when I was 14.  Since the age of 3, I have participated in many different sports but playing a competitive game of basketball is my absolute favorite thing to do!

I feel that I grew most significantly as a student-athlete during my sophomore year when I didn’t get moved up to varsity, after playing on the JV team freshman.  I chose to double my efforts in the gym, weight room and academically so that I could put myself in the best position to be a recruited college guard.  My goals senior year is to continue to improve my GPA, challenge myself by continuing to take accelerated classes and help my team win a Regional Championship as the starting point guard.  This would be our first ever regional win.  My career goal is to be a computer engineer and I want to find a program that is a good academic and athletic fit for me.

Through my participation in sports, I have learned responsibility, commitment, teamwork, leadership and integrity.  In addition, my lifelong sibling rivalry has taught me how to persevere in the face of obstacles.  I am a consistent 3-point shooter who can also make the difficult play when it comes to crunch time.  I also have exceptional court vision and basketball IQ.  I believe that my athletic talents, my values and my academic ability would make me a valuable asset to a college team!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
