Marcus Williams '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Marcus Williams.  I am 17 years old and currently stand 6'6" tall and weigh approx 170 lbs and still growing.  I also run cross county and track, however basketball is my passion. I have been playing organized basketball since I was 8 years old and of all the sports my mother signed me up for basketball was most comfortable for me.   Trust me I have played everything.

As Captain of my high school varsity team, I strive to be a leader on and off the court.  I am motivated to win and show good sportmanship at all times.   My dedication and determination is very instrumental to my teammates and coaches.   I would be an excellent asset to any organization that is willing to assist me developmentally as a player to get me to the next level.  My ultimate go is to make it into the NBA.....I know that that is everyones dreams, but I know that if with God all things are possible.   If I could compare my self to any player it would be Kevin Durrant of OKC.

I have not selected a preference of which school I wish to attend.  I do know that I plan to further my education.   Since, I live in Michigan I would like to remain within a 5 state radius.  I am open to options because I don't want to miss out on the right opportunity.  

I have been raised by my mother with my grandmother's assistance.   I know my father and I have a distant relationship with him, however my mother has always provided for me.   My mom has already applied for   Mthe FAFSA, but it will be a struggle for her to send me to college.  She is the only one of her immediate siblings to hold a bachelor's degree. She is still paying for her education.  My dad is African (Nigerian) is a Detroit Police Officer, he has some college but no degree.   I don't aspire to be anything like him.

I have an interest to one day become a dentist or something in the medical field.  That is what I am thinking right now, but it may change.  I do know that I have to complete college, because I have a younger brother who is 9 years old who looks up to me.  

My goals athletically, is to grow as a player and be a contributing factor to any team.  I suffered a season ending injury in my Junior year in high school.  It was during that time I realized how important an education was and I have drastically turn my grades around. After being laid up at home and really seeing my mom struggle it truly changed my perception of life.  I have been humbled and I thank God for opening my eyes.    I would love to be around a team that is a team and coaches who are concerned about my growth and developement.
