The dream... to play in the NBA. I've seen myself playing professionally since I was in elementary school. My sister was my basketball inspiration, and I still look up to her to this day. Back then, I thought basketball was merely getting a ball through a hoop. But over the years it became more. I started to love the competition and comradery of the game. I now love the feeling of accomplishment when I'm running the floor contributing to the team's success. And as crazy as it might seem to some, I love conditioning. I love my teammates, they're a part of my family, and as sad as it will be to leave them after high school I look forward to meeting the new family I will join in college. I play with everything I have. I love winning. I know to have a successful and meaningful basketball career I need to do exceptional in school, which is one reason why I take my academics very seriously. I am also excited about continuing my AAU and High School basketball career. But I'm even more excited about competing with exceptional players like me in college who play without holding back. I loved playing with the Elite Comet team from St. Cloud for the past two years, and can't wait for the next seasons. I am an offense and a defense aggressive player with great court vision. I think you need all three of these to be one of the greats. My backup plan is to have a career that is related to sports. Right now I can see myself studying physical therapy, sports medicine, recruiting, coaching; I can see myself doing any of these. I have high expectations for myself because I know I have the talent, skill, and work ethic to accomplish what I set my mind to. My name is Matthew Matheney and I want to play with recruits who feel the same way I do.
