Derrick Ogechi '18 Recruiting Profile

I am a 6’ 2 shooting/ point guard from Brooklyn Park, MN. I have started on the Park Center high school Varsity for two years. I averaged 16 PPG and shot 40% from the three point line last season. I play AAU with Minnesota Phenom. I have a 3.6 GPA and a 23 ACT score. I’m looking for a college where I can find the right balance between the classroom and on the court.  I would like to join a college with an outstanding academic reputation in the field of Sports Medicine or Exercise Science.

Ideally, my athletic environment would be one where I can make an immediate impact on the team. On the court I plan to be a dynamic player and a positive influence on the team. As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my college basketball career, I will strive to be an asset by doing my best to act and think on the court, communicate well with my teammates and get my team involved in the game. I can offer a team leadership because I was the team captain for my high school team and my AAU team. I’m the first to get to the court before every practice and the last one to leave after practice.

It has been my dream to play basketball in college ever since I got involved in sports. I’m currently open to all levels because I’m looking for the right fit. Most importantly, I will continue to conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the court, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects my family, my team, my coaches and the school I attend.
