My name is Robert "Jay" Baker, and I am a hoping for the opportunity to play college basketball while pursuing a career in pediatrics.
I started playing basketball in seventh grade and knew it was the sport to which I was going to devote my time and effort, after scholastics, of course. As a Freshman I was called up to the Varsity team in mid-season and learned from my Senior teammates the valuable off-court skill of sacrificial leadership. Every year in my basketball career I feel I have improved significantly and, more importantly, every year I have fallen more in love with the process of becoming better. I am an extremely detailed person who does not skip any step or overlook any aspect of the field I am looking to improve in; whether it be in basketball, guitar, volunteering in my community and church, voice lessons, theater, or in the classroom. I have learned and grown so much as a person and as an athlete by participating in this sport and I would like to continue to do so as I work toward my main goal of going to medical school to become a pediatrician.
I promise any college coach that I will work to improve every season, be a coachable and engaging player, and be a team leader in whatever way is asked of me.
