Personal Statement

Hello my name is Chalis Wilson, and I am currently a senior at Thompson Falls High School. I am 6'7'' and weigh between 185 and 190 lbs. I have had a weight lifting class every school day for two years now, and I work very hard in it. I am definitely not the fastest or the biggest guy on the court but I work hard and make the best of the body I was given by rebounding hard and easily shooting over people. I have been playing basketball on a team since fifth grade, and I have always known that I wanted to go beyond high school with basketball. What I bring to the team is not just experience. I know I am easy to get along with and now more than ever I look at my team as a group of my best friends, doing what we love and doing it well. I try to bring some light-heartedness a person could say, to the rough practices. Dont get me wrong; I do not mess around, but I will crack jokes here and there between sprints to keep the teams moral up. I feel that if I can get my team, or even just a single member of the team to laugh a little, it will get their mind off of the conditioning and make their practice experience more enjoyable. Where I plan to go to school is a really good question. Honestly I am open to and will consider any offers. My main goal in life has been to play college basketball, starting when I first realized there was such a thing. I live in western Montana so I would prefer to go somewhere in the northwest part of the country, but like I already said, I will consider going anywhere. I have been thinking about going into the pharmacy field, but if things do not work out in that area I will probably become a teacher. My athletic goals include three things, to work hard and further improve my basketball skills, be a team player and represent my school on and off the court, and to ultimately have fun playing the sport I have loved all my life.
