Akshay Harishankar '18 Recruiting Profile

My name is Akshay Harishankar and my short term goal is to play and contribute to a collegiate basketball team.  I have always had a passion for the game since an early age and now looking to join a 4 year college and being a part of the Basketball team to contribute with my highly trained court IQ, skills and shooting abilities. Towards my long term goal, I sincerely wish that my College Basketball will provide me an opportunity for a great education. I definitely will be making great efforts to balance my priorities and be ready to contribute to the team and the community in every way. I continually strive to do better at academics and am looking to build my qualifications at the college level in my preferred area of study.

My coaches thru middle school, High school and Club / travel teams have always pointed out the importance of character, discipline and work ethic over skill and athleticism. By following their direction I have been rewarded as a Varsity starter in my freshman year and continue to be of value to my High School team and was nominated for First Team Pacific Coast League. Having played Club basketball since my 7th grade, I have had exposure to diverse teams and players and the ability to play smart.  think that I would make a good candidate for any team because of my poise, enthusiasm, and my will to be coached. I am a great teammate and I like to get everyone on the court involved. I am a willing passer and I always make the extra pass that makes the difference. As a combo guard I have skills playing inside on the post as well as on the perimeter. I am a versatile player and my coaches have always commented on my high basketball IQ.

I sincerely look forward to bringing value to a college basketball team and fulfill my college education goals.
