Hi, my name is Eric Covarrubias, and I’m a junior at Smith Valley High School in Nevada, class of 2026. I’m a multi-sport athlete who loves to compete, improve, and lead. I’ve been lucky enough to serve as captain of our basketball team and help lead us to a state championship—only the second in our school’s history since 1999. Being named 1st Team All-League was an honor, but what meant the most to me was the journey we took as a team to get there.
Outside of basketball, I also play football and baseball. Sports have always been a huge part of my life, and I’m constantly working to grow both physically and mentally. Whether it’s putting in extra time at the gym or breaking down film, I’m always looking for ways to get better. I carry that same mindset into the classroom, where I maintain a 3.5 GPA and take pride in being a student-athlete.
Leadership is something I truly value. I currently serve as Junior Class President, and I’m also involved in National Honor Society, Student Council, and Rotary Interact. These roles have taught me a lot about responsibility, time management, and how to support others on and off the field.
I’m looking for a college program where I can keep challenging myself, be part of something bigger than myself, and continue to grow as both a player and a person. I’m excited for what’s ahead and ready to give everything I’ve got at the next level.
