I am a college bound student-athlete who is energetic and passionate about the game of basketball. Basketball has been my passion since I was three years old where I would watch, hold, and sit on a basketball all the time. One long term goal I have is to receive an academic and basketball scholarship to an excellent basketball program and university. My short term goal is to become the best student-athlete I can be. However, basketball is always secondary to my studies which I take pride in. As a 4.0 student, I study hard in my core courses like Pre-Calculus, AP Language Arts, AP US History and Chemistry. I make sure that I organize my time to ensure I prioritize my academics, sports and activities. I aspire to receive a degree in Sports Medicine or Business Management. In addition, my academic goals are to continue taking rigorous courses within the next couple of years to prepare me for college. Additionally, I have started college touring to see what colleges interest me. I plan to continue to participate and stay involved in school activities because I enjoy helping others and contributing to my community as a volunteer.
For me, I am a good candidate for your team because I am team first before myself. I can make a significant difference if I am on a team by being a leader and working diligently to become a better player. I set goals for myself, but I also motivate and encourage my teammates to grow and perform to the best of their ability too. I feel that my IQ is at a high level and my skills complement my ability to understand the game. Competing at a high level will allow me to be challenged and learn something new each and every day. I feel no matter what part of the year I am in I am always trying to improve on my game to get better. In the pre-season, I work with a personal trainer in a facility primarily used for basketball players. A primary component I use is the shooting machine to make at least 500 shots up and work on my shooting mechanics. In addition, I work on ball handling skills to improve my hand and eye coordination to get quicker with the ball, agility for my footwork, speed and quickness, and strength to build up my body to prepare for the next level. During the season, I stay well conditioned in practice to enhance my physical strength by doing push-ups and sit-ups. In the off season, I continue to train with my personal trainer and I play with my traveling club teams to different tournaments throughout Europe and all over the United States. This upcoming season, I hope to repeat as an All Europe 1st Team Player, receive All-Tournament Team and MVP, and maintain my status as the number one player of the year in Europe.
People have said that they are proud of what they have accomplished because of the hardships they had to overcome. In addition, people tend to say they can't or will not be able to accomplish their goals. I am different because I come from a positive environment where people told me you will make it and do whatever you want to do if you stay focused and don't get into trouble. My life experiences have changed me and how I play the game of basketball as well. Not many people can say they have learned how to play a variety of basketball styles in different cultures such as Europe and Asia. From these experiences is where my passion comes from. I have enjoyed these encounterments which makes me wonder how they will impact my future. Yes, I strive to gain knowledge and be coachable to become the best basketball player I can be, but I also strive to gain knowledge off the court, so when it comes time for basketball to end, I can step out into this ever-changing world and be a strong independent man.
