Pierce Panagakos '18 Recruiting Profile

My name is Pierce Panagakos I am currently a sophomore at Holy Cross High School. I hope to go to a very good academic college to pursue a degree, play college basketball, form relationships with new people, become a better man and to have fun but not too much, always staying responsible of course.

Before writing this personal statement I quickly looked at some other student-athletes' profiles who attend my school. Many said they placed academics first. I'm not trying to fit in with the crowd but I honestly do take academics first which is evident through my 4.2 GPA (unweighted) while taking many rigorous honors courses.

I believe I would be a great addition to a college team because I am a great teammate, I have leadership skills that I demonstrate on and off the court, and most importantly in my opinion I am very coachable and open to criticism for the sake of getting better, unlike some recruits who are not coachable or who believe they are always right.

On the court I feel as though I'm different from other recruits because I give an effort on defense and I know that's where I make my biggest impact on the court. Also many recruits have a college basketball ready type body, but do not possess the basketball IQ like I do which is one of my underrated traits. I believe my character is different from other recruits because I know what it's like to fail, but I also know how to get back up and get right back at it.
