I started playing basketball at the age of 13 recreationally. At the age of 15, I started playing organized basketball at the Kylie Youth Center in Peekskill, NY. At the start of fall 2022, I started my AAU journey. I continued playing organized basketball through my JV season at Peekskill High school.
I started off not knowing anything about basketball. During my introduction to basketball, I would practice basic fundamental drills with my step-father to help prepare me for my first AAU team in the fall of 2022. I performed to the best of my ability, and I made the team. That's when I realized I wanted to develop into a better player and open the door for greater opportunities. Eventually, I developed a more competitive mindset and realized that I needed to push myself even further if I wanted to be a better student athlete.
After completing High School, I plan to go to a four year college with a competitive sports program, and that offers graphic design as a major. Securing a scholarship would expand my opportunities tremendously. My goal is to be my team's starting center and to be known as my team’s best defensive player. Another goal would be to better my artistic ability through graphic design. The different forms of art I do is, drawing, painting, sculpting, and video editing; some of my artwork has been displayed publicly. My artwork is the best representation of me because of my creative mindset. I can think of things and craft it by using any form of material that will execute my vision.
Currently at the fall of 2023, I'm on a more competitive AAU team and have set goals for myself including earning and maintaining a good GPA, pursuing graphic design, and playing competitive college basketball. Over the last few years, I've learned that when competing for a trophy, title, or even a spot on a sports team, I need to stay focus and work hard if I want to become a better basketball player.
