I started my basketball career at eight years old. Prior to basketball I played soccer, baseball and flag football. However, from the moment I stepped on the court I fell in love with the sport of basketball. My aspiration has always been to play at a collegiate level or beyond. On the court I am often referred to as the “defensive stopper” of the team. You can count on me being the player diving for the ball, grabbing rebounds, setting the screens, boxing out and providing relentless hustle. Always giving that toughness that is needed. Some would say "The heart and soul of the team".
Basketball is a year round commitment for me. I am always working and building on my skills. Whether it is participating on different AAU Teams, working with my trainer or just hitting the weight room. This helps me stay determined and focused during the off season. My dedication and worth ethic continues to make me stronger each day. Basketball has taught me the importance of teamwork. It is a brotherhood like no other. We all learn to work together in our own individual roles to succeed as a team. This is a valuable trait both on and off the court.
My academic success is also very important to me. In between all of my basketball commitments I always make time for my studies in order to maintain a high GPA. I have volunteered my time during the summer at different basketball camps on Staten Island as well as assisted with running the game clock at CYO games. This past summer I had the privilege of being asked to be a coach for an 8th grade basketball tournament. Another great learning experience this summer was when I was assigned to be the official referee during the game tournaments at basketball camp. I have worked extremely hard during High School both academically and athletically. I believe that my rigorous schedule and my determination to succeed will continue to prepare me for what the future holds.
