I have been interested in Basketball my whole life, I’ve been playing basketball since I was 5 yrs. old as a hobby and a general love for the game. Since, I have been playing basketball I have always wanted to play college ball while pursuing my college education as a sports analyst. I’m only 16 years old, but playing and participating in basketball is part of my life, it has allowed me to mature and strengthened my love for the game and my belief in the many different positive influences basketball and all other sports can have on an individual such as myself and others.
I feel that much of my personal development can be attributed to my involvement with basketball by being on teams such as recreation basketball, my elementary and middle school team, AAU basketball, JV and Varsity basketball and numerous basketball camps. I was a team captain for JV basketball my sophomore year and I am one of the captains for my AAU team. I have always had a great attitude with anything that I do I’m always assisting and helping my fellow team mates, I’m a positive person who always wants the best for others, I am a strong team player always willing to go above and beyond in practice and in games, I am constantly looking for places to play ball when I’m not in school or a member of a basketball team during the offseason, in which I volunteer and mentor at my high school for youth basketball for ages 6 to 13 years old.
My mother always felt that the best way to keep my brother and me out of trouble was to keep us active in outside activities and sports and from my experience I can see why she has done this. I am thankful to have the opportunity to attend basketball camps and play basketball at any given time. Since my involvement in the game of basketball it has given me a great sense of purpose to my life and is teaching me additional values, one being the importance of self-belief, being a team player and determination. Currently my family is sending me to basketball skill camps to continue to help me develop and be more competitive which has taught me self discipline and the importance of going that extra mile and putting in as much effort as I expected from my team mates. I have discovered that basketball is unique in its ability to instill such values in people through real life experience and I would be honored and ecstatic to gain additional skills and knowledge for a college basketball team. I really would love to have the opportunity to showcase my skills and tryout for a college basketball team.
