Gabriel Garcia '22 Recruiting Profile

I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. And when I was 10, I wanted to play basketball, but I was too small to get any minutes. I was told that I was not skilled or athletic enough to be a real basketball player. I cannot describe how determined I was to prove people wrong. I keep that same determination today. I play with a lot of aggression but at the same time a lot of composure. I love driving in and making contact with much bigger players, but I also know when and when not to make a lot of contact. My favorite players are guys like Russell Westbrook, Ja Morant, Damian Lillard, and Kobe Bryant. I strive to play with the same explosiveness, clutch, and leadership that all of these players have. I have no problem with taking the last shot or putting a team on my back, I thrive under pressure and I love the grind of the offseason, improving my game and my character.

As of right now, I have a GPA of 4.67 and I am studying at  South Piedmont Community College as a dually enrolled student. I am working on an associate's degree in the science pathway and I am hoping to become a Nurse Practitioner.
