Hi, my name is Lawson Brown and I am a Senior at Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC. I am a starting Shooting Guard and Team Captain of the Varsity basketball team. I have been playing basketball since I was 5 years old. I actually have played and excelled at many sports, competing at the State level in swimming and football. Now that I have reached my Senior year in high school, I have committed my dedication and focus completely to playing basketball. I realized that it is impossible for me to give 100% to the sport if my time is spread too thin across multiple areas. While I am proud of my accomplishments being a multisport athlete, I want to compete and play basketball at the collegiate level and obtain a 4 year degree in a business related field of study. In order to reach this goal, my focus and free time revolves around practicing basketball daily to improve my skill set and making sure I maintain my grades to stand out academically and athletically. Basketball is what I enjoy doing the most. I put my heart and soul into everything I do, but this sport is just special to me. I first realized I could succeed when my parents told me my cousin, Abby Waner, was the 2005 McDonald’s and Gatorade National basketball Player of the Year. This was so motivating and it challenged me to be the very best I can be. I feel that I have a lot to offer to any team. I am passionate, driven, dedicated, confident, and always a team player. My greatest strengths are versatility and mental and physical toughness. I have played all positions, 1-5, which gives me an advantage to read the court and always be prepared to make the play happen. What's most important above all else is that I just absolutely love to play and it shows when I am on the court.
