Personal Statement
For as far as I can remember, basketball has always been a part of my life. My mom told me as an 18-month-old my Christmas present was a Little Tykes basketball hoop. Soon after, I started carrying a small basketball with me everywhere I went and even slept with it at night. Instructional basketball started at age 4 follow by organized basketball. Tournament wins started in 2nd grade with my select team and as a 7th grader my school team won the city title.
I love playing point guard which is my primary position. I love to get my team involved by and directing the plays and providing assists when possible. I am a mentally tough, coachable player with a high basketball IQ. I have strong ball handling skills and consistently provides “lock down” defense. I am known as the floor general, in which I push my teammates on the basketball court. I have a deep desire to play college basketball, and I have a mentality that’s says nothing will stop me from achieving my goal. I train every day during the summer and train every day that fits my school schedule. I also play baseball where I am a LHP/OF and bat leadoff.
To me, academics are very important, and I work hard to maintain a high GPA. I study every night to maintain my grades. Even though my school challenges me with difficult assignments, I have begun to accept adversity and overcome these challenges I have been thinking about college majors, and I am either going into science or business.
My goal in college is to be the best person I can be on and off the court and continue to excel academically and athletically. It is my desire to attend a college where I will be challenged in the classroom and on the basketball court. I plan to make friends with fellow peers and strive to be a positive role model for younger kids along the way.
