Jerry Saunders '22 Recruiting Profile

Excited to start the 2020-21 basketball season as a junior point guard.  As a returning starter, I am looking forward to improving my offensive and defensive play on the court, and being a leader for the team. I am interested in being part of your college basketball program. I made the varstiy team as a freshman, started as a sophomore am looking to be a great team leader this year.  I play for Pickerington North, a division 1 high school  in Pickerington, OH

Some of my sophomore stats: averaged 8.3 pts. per game; 46% 2 pt. shooting ; 42.4% 3 pt. shooting, and my free throw shooting percentage, 70%. I averaged 3.5 RPG, 1.4 APG and only one turnover per game. My sophomore honors include Honorable Mention District 11 for Basketball, Special Mention All District OCC Ohio for Basketball, Student Pillars of Character Award and induction into the Greater Columbus Basketball Legends Association Hall of Fame as High School Student Award of Character.

I play the two guard and am strong at the point guard. My defensive play is key to the team; coach Bates counts on me to shut down the leading scorers on opposing teams with my aggressive defensive style. Taking a charge, getting rebounds and looking for the opportunity to steal are as important to me as scoring and being an offensive team player. I work hard every practice and am a fast learner. I am working hard and taking extra steps to improve my play to be ready for this year. 

I played AAU in the summer and fall to improve my game, and I have a focused work out routine to stay ready. 

I would be honored to play at the college level and will continue the hard work and dedication it takes to be a valued member of the team.
