5 years ago I started playing basketball and realized that it is one of the greatest things in my life. At the beginning of my freshman year, I really started to put a lot of time into my skills and physical attributes. Moving schools my sophomore year changed me as a person by meeting my new coach who helped me improve tremendously from the previous year. Basketball has taught me discipline and to work hard and be the best version of myself. It has helped me take initiative in wanting a better future for myself and my mother who worked hard to provide for me.
Academically and athletically I strive to be the best and do not settle for just okay. I put in the work required to keep my grades high. My self-motivation is something that has carried me throughout my life without needing other people to get me to where I am. Being a leader is something that I have bettered myself in over the years, I used to not talk at all now I can be the loudest on the court to get the team going. I used to play multiple sports including soccer, football, and baseball but have committed every day to basketball to try to compete at the next level.
