Hello, my name is Idan Bitan from Toronto, Canada. I am a point guard who loves making winning plays and who exemplifies the heart and soul of a true basketball competitor. My game is evolving through an immense work ethic that rivals the best in the world. I will work harder than anybody else and keep practicing discipline, even when others aren’t looking. While some athletes are out partying, drinking, or simply not doing what they need to. I will be in the gym, the lab, or the classroom.
I recently attended William Lyon Mackenzie High School. The most recent teams I've played for are the Markham Gators OBL (2023) and the 4th Quarter/Williams Academy AAU (2024). Being just 6’0, I use my Strength at 190 pounds, my Stamina, and surprising speed to my advantage as well as my developing basketball IQ through game film. I am hoping that my intangibles have a tangible impact on every game.
I am a winner, so naturally I never give up on a game, I know this also positively influences teammates so as a collective we can persevere through the most challenging games and come up on top.
Whether it's by diving for loose balls, playing tenacious point of attack or off-ball defense, or willing our team into a successful possession, I don’t care if it gets noticed, I care if it wins us the game. However, I know with winning, there is always the possibility that we come up short. I am willing to learn from mistakes by turning them into lessons and learning as a team while taking responsibility when it is right to do so.
Any opportunity that is given to me I will be grateful for. I will ask questions, and respect any advice or input given to me by the coaching/ training staff and teammates. I know I am not perfect, but I can help your basketball program by doing what is needed, adding to the culture, and encouraging hard work in other athletes, not only through words but by action resulting in a positive influence on teammates.
I am excited and eager to get to the next level and prove I belong there through hard work and perseverance. I look forward to the opportunities and obstacles that we must take on the road to winning.
