Zach Rivers '19 Recruiting Profile

 My name is Zach Rivers and I will be a senior this fall at Wilsonville High School located 20 miles south of Portland, Oregon.

I am highly interested in playing college basketball at any level where I can compete and have a great college experience.   As a student my goal is to graduate with a cumulative 3.0 GPA and I will receive my latest SAT score in July.  My favorite subjects currently are Math and Science.  In addition, I just finished my second year of Sign Language completing the basic foreign language requirement. The college majors I want to pursue are either Business or Sports Management.

As a player, I am a traditional point guard that takes pride in getting my teammates involved and hitting open shots.  I am very comfortable as a catch and shoot threat however, I can also attack and shoot the mid-range jumper as well.  I have been fortunate to have great coaching throughout my career and understand the value of playing pressure man to man defense and having a defined role within a team structure being critical to winning. 

Over the last three months my game has grown significantly as I have increased my work ethic and my self-confidence after playing on my club team this spring.   What makes me a strong recruit is that I am a great teammate, possess a high basketball IQ and I have lot of upside physically. I have a good wingspan for my height (6'0) and my athleticism and strength are still in development.  I won’t turn 17 until July 9th and I am confident that I will make huge physical strides in the coming year as I will spend more time in the weight room and sharpening my skills.  In the Fall I will be a starting wide receiver on our football team that made it to the state semifinals last season.

 Lastly, I come from a great family where my older sister will be a Junior at the University of San Diego and my parents have created a lifestyle for me that has allowed me to travel internationally, live on two coasts, interact with a diverse group of people and have a lot of fun. 

 Until recently I didn’t think playing college was a real option but every month as I improve my love for the game and the sport increases.
