Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Matt McQuaide and I go to Cranberry High School in northwestern Pennsylvania. I am currently a playing basketball on the varsity basketball team for my high school and on an AAU team. As a sophomore, I was the 6th man on the team but have managed to be the second leading scorer that year. As a junior and senior I was the captain of the team and this year been averaging 18.9 points per game. I have been playing basketball since the third grade on various school and travel teams. I have played every position on the court. I also enjoy watching the game and analyzing all the aspects of the game. Outside of basketball, I have participated in cross-country, baseball, track, 4-H, science club and varsity club. I have also a member of a youth Christian group and along with various local community service projects; I have been on five mission trips to West Virginia to help others in the community. Last year I went on to Jamaica for a mission trip and will return this year to build homes in the small village of Harmons.
My goals include becoming the best player I can, someday playing college basketball and graduating college with a degree in sports management and marketing. I enjoy basketball because it challenges me mentally and physically and it lets me be a part of a team to achieve one common goal. I find playing on a team very rewarding because it makes you work together with your teammates and work as one instead of individually. I enjoy being the best I can individually to accomplish goals as a team. This past season I worked on both my inside and outside games and in the fall I spent time on improving my defensive footwork at the Edinboro fall skills clinics. I strive to do my best on and off the court with my athletics and my academics.
