Hi. My name is Jose Ortiz, Class 2014 of Colegio San Jose, Puerto Rico. I will like to continue studies in the United States in a college/university institution where I can play basketball while achieving my educational goals in graduating from Engineering. I have played basketball all my life and my goal is to be part of my college/university basketball program as a player. Following some brief notes describing myself.
Respectfully, I consider myself a very respectful, handsome, intelligent and modest person. Great person to be around, a great friend and a better son. My GPA is 3.56 at Colegio San Jose which is one of the very demanding and top academic schools in Puerto Rico. Since 7th grade, I have been an honor student. My goal is to major in Engineering.
On the basketball side, my height is 6'1" and weight 160. Next birthday is September 26. Probably one of the youngest in my class. Seen as the team captain, I can play effectively all guard positions, excelling at the point guard and shooting guard. Like to play defense and, as told by many people, my basketball sense and IQ are above everyone compared to anyone at my position/grade/age. I have played for great coaches in Puerto Rico, many of them with coaching experience in the professional basketball league of Puerto Rico.
I've been playing basketball since I was 3 years old, have had a plethora of accomplishments during my basketball career including a high number of MVP's, All Star appearances, scoring titles, etc. in both my high school and AAU teams. Two years ago, I was selected to NBA player JJ Barea's Super 60 Camp which was an invitation camp, that included the Top 60 prospects and BEST players in the island. Most recently, I went to HoopGroup Basketball Camp. In 2011, I also went to Georgetown's Basketball Camp and was one of the scoring leaders on my team. Currently, I am considered one of the greatest players on the island, not just only by my peers, but also by my opponents. Also, I consider myself a good student, being in one of the most demanding schools in the island, I have a 3.56 GPA being a Honor Student and got a 1630 on my SAT.
I am working very hard in the classroom and gym to reach my goals. I will be honored to get the opportunity to play college/university basketball and, hopefully, be considered for an athletic scholarship on the game I love. Basketball is my passion and education is the future. I really can make the difference on both sides for the college/university that gives me the opportunity. I will truly do my best to make the difference.
Sincerely,
Jose Ortiz
