As a young student-athlete I simply wish to succeed in life. Accomplish my goals of doing better than my parents and brother did, pushing through all of the adversity i have faced in my life, the negative energy of those who wish to see me fail, and so on. I want to go to college to play ball of course but as a scholar i want to go into the field of Health Care, my mother being and inspiration as she nursed for 25+ years. More in depth, I plan on doing one of three things: double majoring in Health Care with Clinical Physiology and Food n Nutrition because I love to learn about the body and how I can better it which is why took classes such as Anatomy Physiology, Sports medicine, and Biology. Next, I would love to major in Psychology because I love being involved in anything cerebral. Finally, Law and Criminal Justice for as many may know the crisis we the people go through along that subject so I would love to do my best to potentially make a difference or at least investigate into that.
What I feel makes me a good candidate for a team at college level is my drive, knowledge, attitude, morals, and impact on others. Not only will I simple say "you have my word" or "yes coach/sir, ill work on that" but I will make my words match to my actions being a man about it. I can also be a leader. I have always been involved with my schools, been good with teachers and students, and gone the extra mile to be selfless. I have 6 "little brothers" (I quote that because we're just really tight friends) who look up to me. I am not exactly the eldest (2nd oldest) but with these brothers, I guess you could say so. We are known as "LSC". Not a gang of any sort which has been made very clear but more of a brotherhood. This would explain my grade drop in my second semester of my Junior year a Decatur right after a dramatic loss. I have one little brother who I started this brotherhood with who was shot and killed February 13th, 2016 in the Taco Bell parking lot in Federal Way, Washington by the name of Wesley Gennings. The reason we continue this brotherhood is to keep him around and do the things he would've love to achieve as well. We have done many positive things in our community such as helping around schools and simply being involved to bring joy and laughter to others. Also there is a foundation created by his mother Lonie called the "Wesley Gennings Foundation" to try and better our community. On February 13, 2017, I and many, many others had a peace walk here in Federal Way not only for the 1 year remembrance of Wesley but to build awareness to gang violence and get more people involved with helping us to helping each other.
As far as athletics go, I feel leadership, attitude and work ethic would draw me from the crowd. But Academics, though i am surely not the smartest, I do work hard and get my work done, I would personally say that my drive to graduate and do good pushes me in school which might make me stand out.
