Personal Statement
The amount of work that I have put in to be where I am at today has been crazy—early morning workouts I initiated and led before school/before the season even started to late night and weekend workouts shooting doing drills to make me stronger and better—all while maintaining a 3.2 GPA. Since I have only been playing the game since my 8th grade year, I have had to work more than most to fight for a spot that I knew I deserved. I have used rejection combined with my supporters’ encouragement to fuel my motivation to work harder and become better. This year I faced giants going against opponents who were taller than me, but that forced me to play bigger by boxing them out and leading our team in defensive rebounds. To see the level I am playing at right now excites me—first year Varsity player on the starting team, Academic All District, and Second Team All District. Although I have worked hard, I know there is still room for improvement, and I welcome feedback to help me continue to become better. I know my basketball journey is not over, and I am willing to put in any amount of work necessary to continue to achieve my dreams.
I have many goals but one of them is to play basketball in college to prove to those who have doubted me and to those younger players coming in that with hard work, focus and dedication, nothing can stop you from achieving your dreams! I plan on becoming a high school coach, so I can continue to lead and encourage others to be their best on and off the court.
