Personal Statement

My name is Onesimus Moore but everyone calls me (O.J.) for short.   I graduated from Fisher College on May 16, 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with emphasis in Marketing, which will provide opportunity for personal growth and contribute to my long-term goal of business ownership.  Athletic objective is to continue training in a manner conducive to my preferred future, which is to earn a spot on the roster of a professional basketball team. Whether it is with the NBA or Euro League, I will play this game at the next level.
Onesimus (O.J.) Moore

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • 2015 Las Vegas Overseas Basketball Combine
  • 7/10/15 to 7/12/15
  • During this combine, there were eight teams that were represented by international teams. The team I played for was Turkey. I played the combo guard as well the small forward. The camp was competitive and consisited of individual skill drills and team drills. The team I played with won the Combine Championship, finishing with a record of 5-0.
  • Camp/Event
  • Athletes In Action, International Men's Travel Basketball Team
  • 6/18/10 to 7/16/10
  • Coach Matt Davis, Head Men’s International Basketball; recruited me to play with Athletes In Action during the summer of 2010. Traveling to Eastern Europe to play International competition was excellent. We had a team record of 10-1 against some of the most competitive basketball teams in Moldova, Chisinau, Romania, and Iasi. It was an unforgettable experience to have competed against some the world’s best athletes in Europe. Having the opportunity to tour the country was an exceptional experience as well. This was an outstanding summer.
  • Camp/Event
  • Sam Houston Elite Men’s Basketball Camp
  • 8/04/09 to 8/04/09
  • Overall, the camp was very competitive due to the many talented players that attended. I held the shooting guard position.
  • Camp/Event
  • Texas Recruit Combine
  • 10/18/08 to 10/18/08
  • While a participant at the combine, the Texas D-1 Ambassadors recruited me to play on their AAU team. It was a learning experience.
  • Camp/Event
  • Five-Star Basketball Camp
  • 7/10/07 to 7/14/07
  • The camp instructors were knowledgeable in teaching various technical, and basic athletic skills needed when competing at any level. This was the most educational camp I had ever attended and it provided an opportunity to play while learning simultaneously. Altogether, it was good experience.
  • Camp/Event
  • Tom Penders Basketball Camp
  • 6/19/06 to 6/23/06
  • This was a learning experience to remember as well. I met my personal trainer/position coach at this camp. Coach Lyons, an exceptional trainer/coach that understood the mechanics of the game. I am most appreciative for the training, which is still a major component in my game today.
  • Camp/Event
  • Calvin Murphy’s Basketball Camp
  • 7/04/05 to 7/09/05
  • This was the best overall basketball camp I had ever attended. Coach Murphy’s camp inspired me to hold on to my dream of playing professional basketball. Coach Murphy taught the game of basketball from a show and tell perspective. Coach Murphy, a superb coach and player captivated the attention of not only me but also the participants and parents alike. At some point during the camp, I realized what would be required of me if I wanted to play at the professional level. I am still inspired by the teaching of one of the best professional basketball players in history "Hall of Famer" Calvin Murphy, my camp coach. Coach Murphy gave me his signed photograph and autographed my camp jersey, which is still in my possession today. I remember Coach Murphy telling me, “Make good grades in school while you have the chance because good grades can open doors that athleticism alone may not”. That statement stands today.
