My goal is to earn a college scholarship in basketball to fulfill my dream of becoming a sports agent. I successfully competed against many students for a seat in a Sports Management course offered by my school district which allowed the student to intern with sports companies in the area. I am currently interning with Michael Johnson Performance which is giving me great experience in learning about the business of Sports Management and working with a team on a common goal. This demonstrates that I am not afraid of the commitment and hard work necessary to achieve my dream, instead of relaxing and taking it easy during my senior year in high school. Additionally, it highlights my leadership qualities and my ability to balance, a job, school, and athletics. As a student-athlete in college, you will need to be able to balance both academics and athletics while working towards earning a degree.
I am an academically gifted student who excels in both Math and English subjects. For the past two years, I have been a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. All the above information I feel makes me a good leader, a good recruit for a college basketball team, and a good teammate. As an alternative to a career as a sports agent, I may want to become a sports and entertainment lawyer or a doctor in the field of sports medicine. Since I was a preschooler, I have always loved sports and therefore would like to work in the sports industry.
My attitude of doing my best as it applies to academics has a direct influence on my aggressive style of play on the basketball court. I have put in countless hours outside of school and select basketball team practices training so that I can get better. This hard work has improved my basketball skills and IQ enough to where I have become a very good scorer at all three levels of basketball (at-the-rim, mid-range, and beyond the three-point line). My extra training has also increased my overall strength and conditioning making me a stronger rebounder, better facilitator, and tougher defender. Because my overall confidence in my game has increased, I believe I have become a better leader and communicator with my teammates. I love this game of basketball and would love to continue playing basketball at the college level.
