My name is Antwan Taylor and I am a 6ft 4in sophomore guard at Harker Heights High School in central Texas. I’ve been playing basketball since the age of seven and I made a commitment then that I will play college basketball because I love the sport. I love playing basketball because it teaches me many different values that I apply to everyday life. Team work is one of the values that makes basketball players a great asset in all walks of life. My current GPA is a 3.8 and has been the standard since middle school. Maintaining a high GPA is demonstrating that I am holding up my end of the bargain with my family and my coaches. I come from a military back ground where both my parents are retired military, my dad a warrant officer working in Cyber Security for 23 years and my mom a Captain as a Human Resource Specialist (HR) for 24 years of military service. I have lived my life full of discipline, dedication, commitment and hard work.
One of the greatest attributes is that I am always in the gym working on by craft to become the best player I can become. I am 6 feet 4inch sophomore combo guard that play multiple positions predominately 1, 2 and 3 in that order. I credit myself on being a very good defensive player which enables me to grab defensive rebound and initiate quick offense and that’s a part of my versatility. I made varsity as a freshman and I am now a starter as a sophomore. I am one of the leaders on my high school team points, rebounds, assist and taking defensive charges. As a sophomore I am usually task to guard the best player on the other team’s sometimes ranked players who are seniors.
My goal is to earn a basketball scholarship in pursuit of a master’s degree in sports medicine. My most recent accomplishment for my sophomore season is being a starter in 12-6A playoff games against Rockwall high school. I was honorable mention for both Academics and basketball. Another recent accomplishment as a starter on my AAU Team the TJ Ford Bulls, we won the 9th grade division in a GASO where we finish first out of almost 200 teams. I am currently also a member of the ASAK AAU sophomore team out of Austin Texas. My ultimate goal between now and my senior year is to become the 12-6A most valuable player and most important the defensive player of the year. I am one of the most Athletic and skilled sophomores in Texas and I am looking forward in being a member of your team and being a solid contributor in whatever role that’s ask of me. Most important I will be a great student and a role model for others to follow.
