As the son of a refugee, my mom has always taught me the importance of having a relentless work ethic. Since I was young, my parents have pushed me to set goals and to work hard to achieve them.
Last season was a big one for me. I was a unanimous choice for 1st team All-District, selected for All-Region, Runner-Up for OPOY, selected as Top 3 shooter in the greater Houston area, and ranked locally and statewide amongst my peers.
However, that does not define my collegiate goals or aspirations. I know that my achievements did not happen by chance, and that my work ethic and endless nights of preparation translated into results. I have the aspirations to join a collegiate program where I can contribute at a high level, both in basketball and academically. That includes being the best student, teammate, leader, friend, son, and captain of my team. Those goals are high, but I believe they are achievable because I am living proof of a player that has had to work for every accolade that I have received.
Nothing has been given to me, and there is no reason to stop setting distinguished goals now. Adversity is a constant in life, and each failure makes me even more determined to learn and overcome. Without failure, there is also no success. Every morning, I enjoy getting up and starting my day off trying to be the best that I can be. That is what separates me from my peers.
