Samuel Martin '19 Recruiting Profile

I'm a well rounded, multi-sport, student athlete with a 3.5 GPA, 1180 SAT, and a passion for playing basketball.  I hope to find a good school where I can further my education while playing my favorite sport.  I've played point guard since middle school, now going into my 3rd year on Varsity.  I'm very competitive and have a love for the game, I go out there determined to help my team win every time.  I can be a leader & confident, yet I always want feedback & ways to improve my game.

From a past AAU coach (Sean Bell):  "Sam has excellent flexibility and fast twitch spark.  Sam possesses the natural ability to bend and change direction/angles with precision and quickness.  Sam has a strong personality.  A quiet confidence and an all-around team player.  Sam has the competitive spirit that drives an entire team."

From Head Coach (Byron Harkless):  "Sam is very explosive and a great ball handler.  He excels at getting into the paint and also is very effective with his mid-range jumper.  Sam is a great person to be around.  He is a leader at Glenn High School and highly respected by his peers.  His work ethic in athletics and in the classroom is second to none."

Scouts Focus Evaluation: "College coaches on camp staff identified Samuel as having college potential.  The talented passer distributes the ball well always seeing the floor and anticipating where and when teammates will be open creating easy buckets. In terms of ball handling, it was one of the strongest aspects of the player's game. The player makes great use of change of speed and change of direction. The prospect's Basketball IQ definitely stood out at camp and proved to be really good.  The prospect was able to consistently knock down shots during camp showing to be a reliable asset. The talented player is an exceptional athlete proving to be an advantage on both ends of the floor having athleticism that is in the upper quarter of competitors. The prospect is very strong for their age.  Combined with the player's solid frame that should to continue to build year around, the player will be physically ready to play at the next level.  College coaches will be impressed watching the talented prospects motor and from what we saw, the player had a physical and mental toughness that will be coveted at the next level. The player showed excellence on the defensive side of the ball and exemplified individual and team defensive concepts that we highlighted at camp.
