My name is Chandler Apple and I'm a 6'2", 190 lb. point guard and I'll be a senior for the 2017-2018 school year. I have been playing basketball for as long as I can remember and absolutely love the game. Beginning in junior high, I have wanted to play at the college level. I am a great team leader, have a high basketball IQ and want to do whatever I can to help my team win. Most of the time that has been scoring but as my coaches will attest, I will do whatever is asked of me. I was a team co-captain my junior year. I've been a varsity starter since my freshman year at Canyon Creek Christian Academy, earned all district in each of my last 3 seasons, District MVP my junior year, was named to 3 all tournament teams my junior year as well as being named TAPPS All-State. I will be going to a new school for my senior year as Canyon Creek ceased operations at the end of my junior year. While a little disappointing, I know it will push me out of my comfort zone as well as prepare me for my transition to college in the fall of 2018. I led my team in scoring, FG%, 3 pts made, 3 pt % as well as was in the top 5 in the state for my class in TAPPS in all of those categories and led the state (TAPPS) with 106 3pts made during the regular season and was second in the DFW metroplex in all school classifications in 3pts made shooting at 42%. I've played with the same AAU team since 6th grade, the Dallas Metroplex Elite and am the longest tenured player on the team. I have always been loyal to my team and my coaches and while I've had offers to play on other teams I have stayed on the same team and have enjoyed the experiences and growth that I've had.
Off the court, I attend church at Watermark and am an active member of the Plano Young Men's Service League which is a Mother-Son organization for high schoolers where I get to do philanthropic work during each year including working with special needs children, nursing homes (where I play BINGO with the residents and have an absolute blast), food pantries and people who are less fortunate than myself. We are required to do a minimum of 40 hours per year but my mom and I enjoy doing more than that.
At the end of the day, I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom as well as on the basketball court while earning my degree and playing the sport that I love. I am open to any opportunities and want to ultimately find the right college at the highest level of competition possible coupled with a great academic environment to further develop myself and prepare me for the future.
