In the two years that I have played high school basketball, I have learned that you must be prepared. Being cut from the basketball team in the 7th grade helped me to understand that I need to take things seriously. Sometimes you can take your natural height and ability for granted, but when you prepare beforehand the sky is the limit. I enjoy helping people and that shows on the court as well. As the defensive captain, I am quick to assist a teammate that might not remember where they need to be on defense. I am also quick to help our team pick up the intensity to earn a defensive stop. I have learned that you should never have an off night in defense.
I have grown up in a Christ centered household where I was taught to always put God first, family second, and sports 3rd. With this equation I am able to maintain a good GPA and also participate in the senior bible quizzing program at our church. We memorize 500 scriptures a year and travel to competitions. This type of determination and dedication will help me to be a vital part of a college program and I look forward to following the path to where God leads me.
