JR Nelson '17 Recruiting Profile

I love the game of basketball and seek the opportunity to do the thing I'm most passionate about.

During my high schools seasons I've been blessed to be apart of a great program. Two of my varsity years we competed in the 2A State Championships. Contributing to these teams helped me understand what it takes to win and what is necessary for a team to excel. My experiences took me from a contributing role to a leadership role as team captain. I've learned what it takes to separate yourself and your team from the rest. 

I believe my abilities on the court go beyond the stats. Defense is the backbone of my game. Good footwork, quick hands, and a determination to lockdown players allows me to guard anyone I set out to. My basketball IQ and court vision allows me to lead on the court and effect the game in different ways. 

However, just as much as I strive on the court, I do off. I compete in the classroom the same as on the court. I know just how important education is. I'm not a one sided deal, I fit the definition of a student athlete. I've been able to hold a steady 3.8 GPA, while submurssing myself into the school community through sports and clubs.
