Don’t suck! That is our family motto. That – and work harder than the guy next to you. What that means to me is to play hard, give my best, be competitive yet have good sportsmanship. And most of all – be coachable!
Basketball is definitely my passion. I have been the starting point guard on my basketball teams since the 3rd grade and have grown up playing with the same group of guys for the last 9 years. We are all seniors this year and some people even call us the Fab 5. Over the years, we have battled to the top in countless tournaments, including making it to the State Tournament last year for our high school. It is because of my relationship with them, both on and off the court, that makes me want to continue my basketball career in college. Not only am I wanting to play basketball – but I am wanting to be a part of family – a brotherhood.
I believe that I am a strong leader on the court and I strive to earn the respect of my teammates and coaches. I am the guy that everyone comes to when they need advice about their game or how to run a play. I was honored this past year when my coach nominated me for Athlete of the Month for Leadership & Character. I have a strong basketball IQ along with good court vision to find the open man. I love getting my teammates wide open shots and believe in the concept of giving up a good shot for a great one.
Besides my passion for sports, my family and my friends hold a huge space in my heart. My parents are very supportive of me and have been behind me through everything that I do, especially when it comes to my academics. I work hard at my grades and get on myself when my grades aren't where they should be. I am a Student-Athlete – but student comes first. And that is why, without question, I will be just as excited to be in a classroom as I will be on a college court. I am looking forward to pursing a degree in Business with an emphasis in Finance.
Other than basketball, I have enjoyed success in other sports in high school such as baseball, tennis, cross country and track, qualifying for the state meet in the long jump. I have really tried to get myself involved in as much as I could in high school to find things I like and what I am good at. I am also involved with the Green Club, Honors Society, ASB Leadership and Natural Helpers.
