As a military dependent, I have grown up and attended schools all over the United States, where I have had to quickly assimilate into new environments and adjust to new friends, teachers and coaches. As a diver, I know I have what it takes to continue to improve and compete on the collegiate level.
I had a varied athletic background before coming to springboard diving, with success in other sports at the national level. As a powerlifter, barring injury, I hope to become the only athlete to break more than 100 world records while still in high school in 2016. From 2013 through 2015, I won my age group at the AAU Junior Olympic Games Allsports combine, a competitive youth event similar to the NFL Recruiting Combine. As a competitive taekwondo athlete between the ages of 10 and 13, I won multiple state championship titles, earned my black belt, and medaled nationally five times (two gold, two silver and one bronze). While other athletic success doesn't naturally translate into a skill sport like diving, I believe it does demonstrate that I have the desire to win, the perseverance to work hard, and the physical attributes of an athlete.
In 2012, as an eighth grader, after placing third at AAU Taekwondo Nationals, I made the decision to shift my main sports focus from taekwondo to springboard diving, a sport I had begun a year earlier at my junior-senior high school, and really enjoyed. That fall, as an eighth grader, I qualified for states and placed top 20 at the Florida 3A State Championships.
Our family moved to Des Moines, Iowa, for my freshman year in high school -- a state that does not have Boys High School diving. Although unable to have a high school season in Iowa, I trained with a YMCA diving club and attended several club meets. After a year in Des Moines, our family moved to Phoenix, where I am now a club and high school diver. In Phoenix, I attend a high school with an All-AP / Honors curriculum.
I have been received recognition academically, athletically and musically, and balancing a substantial workload in these different areas over a long period of time has forced me to learn to manage multiple efforts at once - particularly since I have always attended academically-rigorous prep schools.
I hope to attend a rigorous academic college where I will be challenged academically and athletically. I intend to study math or finance, and I may follow my parents' lead and serve as a government intelligence or military officer before attending graduate school and moving into the business world.
My personal accomplishments are detailed on my website http://worldsstrongestviolinist.com/records-achievements/
