Ethan Paul '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Ethan Paul I am a senior at Libertyville High School in Libertyville, Illinois. At IHSA State last year I placed 11th, earning All-State. This year, at my first dual meet of the season I broke the 6-dive school record set in 1989. I scored 283.80 (thanks to the DD help of a new 305 in my list). My new goal is to break 300 for a 6-dive meet this season, and break 500 for an 11-dive meet.

I started High School diving my Freshman year, after seeing both my older siblings excel at diving in High School. My sister became a D1 college diver at BYU where she was MVP both her Jr and Sr year. I had hoped to join club diving right after my Freshman season, however due to the pandemic our local clubs weren't accepting new divers. I continued as a High School-only diver for my Sophomore year and had a lot of progress over the season. There was no state series in 2021 (my sophomore year), but my conference score of 403.45 (11-dives) was on track to qualify for the state meet. I was able to join Patriot Dive Club the summer before my Junior year (2021) when they re-opened post-pandemic to new divers.  

I was prepped to compete at USA Regionals in March 2022 after the High School season ended,  but unfortunately I had a collarbone injury that forced me to sit-out the Spring club season. I missed all the summer qualifiers, but was able to compete at AAU Nationals in San Antonio, TX over the summer. I put together a 3M list and competed 3M for the first time at AAUs.

I've really enjoyed diving at the amazing Patriots Swim and Dive club located at Stevenson High School. I immediately loved Jon and the improvements he had for me along with the other divers whom I have dove against in high school competitions. These guys were amazing in pushing me to become a better diver.

I just added a 305c to my list and am adding a 205c soon. *UPDATE 12/2022 I'm now competing 205c*
