I have loved the game of golf since my dad first took me to the course when I was around 3 years old. He is a scratch golfer and has taught me everything until we recently started working with Jon DePriest, a PGA professional at Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville, IL. I am very eager to learn anything and everything that can better my game and help me succeed in pursuing golf at the college level. I work equally hard in school and my high school goal is to finish with no less than a 3.7 GPA, as well as making the top 20 in my class.
In just 2 years of high school I have already had some memorable golf experiences. My Freshman and Sophomore years, I led my team to 2nd place finishes at Conference. I also advanced to State as an individual both years. A definite mental strengthening experience was this year at Sectionals. I shot a 78 that put me in a 4 way tie for 10th, which was the final spot to advance to the State Tournament. I entered a sudden death playoff with 3 other players for the final spot. I ending up winning, and advancing to State, on the 6th playoff hole. Aside from the individual aspect of golf, I love working with my teammates during practice to help all of us become better players. In my junior golf season I led my team to a conference, regional, and sectional championship. I shot 71 at conference, 67 at regionals and 76 at sectionals. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 there was no state tournament.
I have 3 younger brothers, and a younger sister that I love to play around with doing about anything. I love basketball and hunting, but golf is what I enjoy the most. I love my family and spending time with them. I love and am devoted to God and thank him for EVERYTHING he has blessed me with. My favorite verse is Joshua 1:9. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
