Personal Statement

My name is Logan Carroll and I go to Lake Central High School in Indiana. I am a Junior and I was on varsity my sophomore and freshman year. I have a 4.204 weighted gpa and a 3.8 gpa unweighted both on a 4.0 scale. My private coaches name is Michael Camastro and he run Players Elite Junior Golf Academy. 

I first started golf when I was around 7 years old at a golf camp. It wasn't my main priority but I always found it enjoyable. As I got more and more involved with my grandpa and dad would always take me out to the golf course and play a round of golf. I started getting competitive when I was about 12 years old and started to join more and more tournaments. This love for golf keeps growing and everyday I want to play more and more. I really want to play at the collegiate level in college.

I feel that my grades are a very important part of who I am. I am always trying to strive to take the harder classes and keep up a high grade point average. I have been instilled with a hard work ethic not only with my grades but also with everything I do especially golf. I also help out a lot with volunteering throughout the community. I am in several volunteering clubs. I really do enjoy helping out with the community seeing the smile it brings to others while also knowing I helped someone out.

  • Ended up T11 shooting a 78, and 75/ +6, +3 respectively. Learned that when I get on a hot streak I can't get down on myself after getting bogey, I have to bounce back.

  • Ended up +5, 77 on 18 holes. I placed T5. Missed quite a few birdie putts, and learned that I don't have to play amazing to have a good round.

  • Ended up +4, 76 on 18 holes and placed 4 overall. Overall, played pretty well, and learned that putting is the most important thing in golf.

  • Shot even par on a par 36. Condition were windy with about 25 mph of wind. I learned that you can have bad shots but you should focus on the shot right in front of you.

  • Played a fairly well round at 3 over on a par 36. I did not hit many greens, and I learned that distance is a huge help in longer course but it is not biggest factor.

  • Wasn't my best two days shooting a 85 the first day and an 87 the second day. It taught me that I am going to have bad days, but I shouldn't be ashamed of them and use them as learning moments.

  • Finished first with a 167. It was my first 36 hole tournament. Felt good after the first day with an 80. Second day I kept the lead under pressure shooting a 87 to finish first.
