Jordan Schmid '15 Recruiting Profile

I have been very fortunate to have lived and explored many different Countries around the world from the day I was born. This has unquestionably influenced the way in which I communicate with people and how I view the world. Living on three continents and in six Countries has also allowed me the opportunity to play at some of the most fantastic golf courses in the world. There is nothing quite like having monkeys steal your ball on the fairway as they do in Kenya. My Father introduced me to golf when I was three years old. When I was seven, I was playing my first tournament at the Muthaiga Country Club in Nairobi, Kenya where we were living at the time. Playing at Muthaiga, which is a club deep rooted in English tradition, helped me to develop one of the most valuable aspects of the game, golf etiquette. After Kenya, we moved to Morocco where I was fortunate enough to be living down the street from a 9-hole golf course and driving range. This enabled me to practice a few times a week with very good golf coaches from both Morocco and France. We moved to Budapest, Hungary in 2010 where I continued to play and compete in golf. I had an excellent coach who was able to create a program, which would help to improve my balance and strength, and this has greatly affected my golf in a positive way. In Hungary I was captain of the golf team for 3 years, from 9th-11th grade and won the SCIS (Sports Council of International Schools) three times and came in second place one time. During the Summers I also play with the Santa Barbara Jr. Tour as my Mother is from Santa Barbara, Ca.

I am currently a freshman at the University of the Pacific where I train 6 times a week with the help of a great coach. I plan to play on a college team next year, a dream that I have had since I was a kid.
