Dear Coaches
My name is Kirk Collins, I am a 19 year old from Wellington, New Zealand. I have been looking at the oppurtunities of studying in America. I would love the opportunity to play against the best golfers in American college golf, the universities will help me play to my full potential with the extremely good facilities and Coaching Staff, I would also like to represent a great golf team and do my best to come up with winning results.
I play off a 1.4 NZGA handicap I am 6 foot 1 inches and 178 pounds, I have a very athletic background, sports has always been part of me as I have always been extremely active and am always wanting to be the best at what I do. When I set goals I work hard to achieve them, I train hard, put in the hours, play all tournaments I am able to afford and believe my future is on the golf course.
My greatest achievement probably came in 2008 where my school golf team came 2nd in New Zealand, I know this isn't an inividual effort even though I have won quite a few tournaments individually. But this one stands out, even though golf is an individual sport, I really enjoy the team side of it as I push myself harder to perform because I never want to let my team down. I currently play in Wellingtons top Interclub Competition and have for 2 years 2012 being my 3rd, I only lost 1 match in lastyears competition and see that as a great achievement as Wellington has a bunch of great players. I am a great leader and love to lead by example, I was the captain of my Secondary School team and Featherstons Watt Cup Division 1 under 19 regional competition where we won it 3 years in a row under my leadership.
I dont really mind the size of the school or the religious values as I am an easy going person who seems to fit in anywhere, I am definetely looking at playing division 1 golf as that is where the greatest competition seems to be, if there was a good oppurtunity to play div 2 though I would definetely consider it. My Biggest goal at the moment is to play golf in American College golf as It looks as America has the best coaches, facilities, universities and greatest competitions. i would be looking at studying Business Management, Marketing or Accounting. Being an International student I would be looking at some financial assistance/ possibility of a Golf Scholarship to make my dreams and aspirations come true.
