Sports are a huge part of my life, I play Golf and Basketball; however, Golf is the sport that I have played the longest and enjoy the mental and physical challenges I get from the sport. I have been on the golf course since I was five years old and have always aspired to play collegiate golf. I started golf through the First Tee Program and playing the sport has taught me leadership, sportsmanship, confidence, honesty, and responsibility. I have been afforded the opportunity to work with two coaches throughout the years and learning from both is a strong trait I possess because I am very coachable. I enjoy learning new skills from coaches because it doesn’t only help them evaluate my game, but it also helps me learn what I need to do to improve.
I work regularly on my golf skills throughout the year and know the benefits of hard work and regular practice. I played in the PGA Junior League until high school where I have played Varsity since the eighth grade and remain the number one position player on the team. I take pride in being a leader for our team and strive to remain a hard-working golfer throughout high school and leading into college.
I take classwork seriously and have maintained a GPA of 3.6 or higher. I have been on the A-B Honor Roll since middle school. I am involved in our Mass Media class and have been noted as a leader by being assigned the position of Director (as a sophomore) for all sports/extracurricular activity filming – this position is commonly reserved for 3rd or 4th year students. I am an announcer for our school’s Live Streaming Radio and Video Network in the morning, where we have earned multiple awards through the New Mexico Broadcasters Association Awards.
Future goals are to be a well-rounded college student who is successful in the classroom and the golf course by representing myself with a high level of integrity. I understand that I still have a couple years before college, but I intend on putting hard work into all areas academically and athletically to ultimately find the perfect college to challenge me in both areas. Representing a college will not only be the highest honor for me, but it would also allow me to be a role model to my peers and make my family, teachers, coaches, and friends proud.
