My collegiate goals are to play golf for the school I attend. I am very passionate about golf, and playing for a college team would be a dream. I started the golf team for my school and I am currently the Captain of the team. I enjoy leading the team and being of assistance when needed. I am very open to criticism and will improve on what ever needs to be changed. I’m a very nice person and it’s hard to not catch me smiling and having a good time, especially on the course. I’m generally a very worker and I want to do things the right way. During golf practice for my school I would hit over 300 golf balls (15 buckets) and wouldn’t stop hitting until I accomplished the goal. At home I practice putting and watch tutorial videos on how to improve some shots that I struggle on. So far I received two MVP (Most Valuable Player) and a coaches award and competed in the championships for the league twice. In school my GPA is a 3.6 and I’m only trying to get higher. In class I’m focused and a hard worker, and won’t stop until all the notes are taken down and I understand it. Some things that make me different then other people is my passion for whatever I do, and how nice I am. I didn’t get into golf for no reason, I like it becuase it’s the only Sport that teaches you a lesson while your playing. A CEO for a company once said “ if you mentally struggle in golf then you will have a hard time doing anything”. That quote sums up me becuase I am such a well rounded person and part of the reason is becuase of golf. My favorite subject in school is psychology because it teaches me to have a different mindset in life and approach things in different ways that other people might not.
My golf game is strong but I struggle with putting. I shoot in the mid to low 80s but with a coaches help I feel I can average in the 70s if I correct that problem. I’m 6’2 and I use my height as a advantage for distance. Averaging around 295 for my driver and I can hit it far and controlled. My iron play is the strongest part of my game and distance isn’t a problem with them as well. For example, I hit it around130-135 yards in the air with a pitching wedge. My favorite clubs in the bag are my sand wedge and my pitching wedge becuase with both those clubs I have many options as to what u want to do to get the ball to the hole.
I feel I would be a good person for the team becuase of my willingness to improve, hard work, positive attitude, and be a team player and represent the school I attend
Thank you for taking the time to read this I hope I’m a type of person that fits the requirements for the team.
Sincerely,
Peter Johnston
