Entering my senior year, I am glad to put both Covid and remote learning behind me. I am back up in the high 90s for my grades and staying in the mid 70s for my golf. My concentration was tested this year when my dad was diagnosed with cancer (for the second time within 10 years). It seemed to rear its ugly head and leak into mine at the most inconvenient times at tournaments, but all in all, it was a tremendous lesson in mental toughness. I still averaged scores below 40 during my high school season. I know I could have done so much better, but I also know my dad and I are better for having won this fight…again. Getting a lot of offers and scholarships is overwhelming at times and I want to make the right choice for my golf and academic careers, which is easier said than done. With my parents’ small contribution to my schooling, I must depend on scholarships and grants. So, that is what this fall will look like for me…finding which school has the best financial package for me and where I can contribute the most. Having gone through this experience, plus 4 years as a varsity starter, I know it will help me bring a mental toughness that is needed for a great college career. Stay tuned.
