Joshua Weiner '23 Recruiting Profile

• My Junior year high school golf season just wrapped up. We turned in a team score of 310 at Districts, qualifying for States by 1 stroke. I led the team with a 70 and was the last group to finish. With 3 holes to play I knew I needed to finish -1 on the last 3 holes.  I was able to birdie #7 (my 16th hole) and par the last 2 (lipping out on 9 for birdie).  This score was the low for Walsh Jesuit (next closest score was 78), and overall 3rd for the tournament.  I would have qualified for States as an Individual, but it was a great feeling that the whole team was able to go to Columbus.  Our District is the most competitive District in the State with last year's State Champion Hoban and this year's State Champion, St. Ignatius. I was the #1 for Walsh Jesuit the entire year this year as a Junior with 3 senior on the team.  I was able to shoot in the 70's both days at the State Championships at Ohio State's Course (Scarlet), including a 35 on my 1st 9 holes.  Finishing 28th as a Junior and I look to improve on this next year.  My scoring average overall was ~74.  This is my 3rd year as a Varsity Golfer at Walsh Jesuit.

• I’m focused on securing my goal to play for a DI or DII golf team. I'd like to find a program where I can work with a coach to fine-tune my game, contribute to a team, and still be successful academically with a balanced “college-life” experience would be a great fit for me. I'm a strong academic candidate (3.6 GPA) and a team leader with a dedicated work ethic. I am also the leading scorer on Walsh Jesuit's Ice Hockey team earning me All County Honors and led the team to its 1st Final 4 (Frozen 4) appearance in school history.  I won two Northern Ohio PGA golf tournaments over the summer as well prior to the High School season.

My goals for next year are to again lead Walsh Jesuit to the State Championships, average 69-70/round, and continue to maintain a 3.6 GPA or higher.  I have been named the Captain of the Golf Team for 2022.
