September 2017As early as my 6th birthday, golf was a fun way to spend time with my dad on the weekends. Over the years this hobby has developed through various stages of competition while still maintaining that level of enjoyment. My competitiveness has always been a prominent part of my life as I played numerous sports throughout my childhood including baseball, basketball, and lacrosse. While these sports fed my competitive spirit, golf has always been the sport that has peaked my interest the most. I began playing golf tournaments on the local North Coast Junior Tour, an organization that has produced multiple PGA tour members in the past. I have since played in tournaments done by the AJGA, Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, USGA qualifiers, along with numerous others.
The thing I enjoy most about golf is getting to spend time with my friends. Since the summer after fifth grade, while my parents worked, I woke up every morning and rode my bike to the golf course where my friends were waiting for me. Naturally, my friends and I have always been competitive with each other. Every day we would play in our own made up tournaments on our self-run “Elite Junior Golf Association”. Each of those friends have all followed me on a similar path in golf by participating in local, state, and national golf tournaments. We continue to play most days together throughout the summer, and I am grateful that golf has brought me these lifelong friendships.
Along with golf, I participate in numerous other activities inside and outside of school. At school, I am a member of the Red Key Society (student guided tours), The Nest (school spirit club), along with being a leading member of our lacrosse team as the starting goalie. Outside of school, I volunteer at the Cleveland Food Bank, although I am truly passionate about my volunteer work with the organization Lifebanc, a regional organization committed to saving lives through organ donation. I hope that I will be able to match with a college that I can become an active participant in a rigorous academic system while being able to continue my passion for golf. Golf has taught me countless valuable lessons about integrity, hard work, and perseverance, three values that I believe I can bring to a college golf team.
