PERSONAL STATEMENT
Coach,
Thank you in advance for taking the time to review my profile. I look forward to discussing how I can be an asset to your school and your program.
Why I would be an asset to your program and your School?
My Path to Collegiate Golf?
From high-end competitive hockey to Golf
Greatest Golf Attribute?
My Mental game & attitude, I never give up, never lose my composure.
PGA Tour Player my Game Resembles?
Matt Kuchar, very steady and even keel.
Canada's short golf season and long hockey season only enabled me to devote as little as 3 months a year to golf. Beginning in September 2016 I decided to play recreational hockey and begin winter golf development for the first time. The results this past summer in higher end events have fuelled my desire to continue to elevate my game as I am seeing how the focus I have committed to is translating to success.
I have spent my whole life in a team environment and know what it takes for teams to be successful. In my hockey career I was rewarded through the years as being appointed the team captaincy and alternate captaincy. I know this is something that will be an asset to my team in collegiate golf. I am a leader on and off the field of play and coaches can count on me to do whatever is required to ensure team success.
Academically, I am focussed on being the best I can be. I set goals not only to be on the school honor roll when I attended high school, but strived to attain the highest award available at our school, "The Golden Honor Roll". I am proud that I have attained an academic average of greater than 90 % in my first two years of high school. In my junior year I have taken advanced courses in the Math and Sciences as I have aspirations for a career in medicine.
As a person I strive to make a difference in people's lives. I was impacted at a very early age by losing 2 grandfathers to two very debilitating diseases. I lost them to ALS and Parkinson's. My grandfather loved golf and to this day I think of him whenever I am on the course. When I turned 16 I was able to volunteer in a chronic care facility and spend time with those who are older and suffering. I wanted meaningful volunteer hours once I graduated and spend 1 afternoon a week with those that need attention and companionship.
I look forward to discussing in greater detail on how I can be an asset to your team and program. I am anxious to undertake the work set out by my coach and continue my progression to be the best possible recruit I can be. In 12 months I have seen what 100 % commitment to the game I love can do and look forward to the challenges ahead of collegiate golf.
