Greetings, and please accept my gratitude for considering me a candidate for your school and program. My desire in this attempt to match with a college is to create balance in the give/get metric. I wish to learn and grow both academically and on the golf course, while providing value worthy of the program willing to accept me as a protégé.
I started golf in 8th grade. This is likely late compared to most pursuing the same future, but at the same time my coach and I see this as an attribute, for I’m fresh in the sport. Since starting in 2020 I’ve grown and matured both in stature and skill. My speed and distance increased to outmatch most competition, and with more experience, my overall game, maturity in the sport, mental resilience and course management skills have and continue to develop.
In November of 2022 I've enrolled in the Premier Golf Academy program in San Marcos, CA. This program allows me to complete my Junior and Senior years of High School online while practicing and playing at the facility on a daily basis with roughly 6-8 hours per day. I firmly believe this rigorous program has challenged me further than anything I’ve experienced to date. Our coaches are involved with our day-to-day processes, whether on the range, short game area, putt lab, or on the course. Beyond that, our mental coach meets with me weekly, and twice per week I attend strength training at a specialized gym.
Academically, I too had a rough start as a freshman, scoring an uninspired 2.8GPA on the 4.0 scale. I find that expressing excuses for this result is equally uninspired and even lame, but as I continue to improve and compensate in my sophomore year and beyond, with all core classed selected in the Honors and AP regime, I am confident that a better version of me is just ahead.
My desire is to be an active participant. Golf, academics, personality. In all I strive to improve and influence. Consider me a contender who will help shape your school’s future, who will contribute to the game of golf.
